Basic FI Setup
Sadly, this simple, manually operated FI instrument furnished with a tungsten light source and spectrophotometer formerly produced by FIAlab is no longer available. It served as an excellent training tool in an undergraduate laboratory, or for exploratory work and analysis of small sample series. It comprised the following components:
- peristaltic pump
- manually operated two position injection valve
- manifold of connectors, tubing and reactors
- flow-through cell
- tungsten light source and Ocean Optics spectrophotometer with PC data collection
Low cost, easy to operate and maintain, the instrument can easily be home made and will prove surprisingly useful as an introductory tool to flow based analyses.
